About the Role and Responsibilities

About the Role:

This position is for a SW QA Manager, R&D within McAfee's Network Security BU. McAfee Network Security Platform (IntruShield) is one of the most widely used network IPS solutions in the world and has been in the leader's quadrant of the Gartner Magic Quadrant. A person in this role would be required to ensure quality is achieved in testing, performance and customer support. This will involve leading a QA team of 7 engineers to help understand product requirements, creating test plans, automation suites and to ensure highest quality and efficiency testing.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Work with multiple development teams in India and US to understand the product requirements, design and come with strategy for testing and certifying the release on schedule.
2. Managing work and resources around all testing activities including but not limited to functional, system, and regression testing through manual and automated testing
3. Implements best practices of software engineering to meet and improve upon the quality, cost and schedule expectations of the organization.
4. Anticipate product release problems and take corrective action, escalating as needed, to resolve and achieve commitments.
5. Participate in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements and design specifications.
6. Take responsibility for automation component (API based automation, & performance based automation)
7. Take responsibility for manual testing of assigned releases

Qualifications

1. BE/ME with 10+ years of work experience in developing and testing of networking and security products.
2. Minimum of 2+ years of experience in managerial positions leading QA teams for System Testing, automation and sustenance activities.
3. Solid experience in defining and implementing strategic QA plans across areas like software testing and customer support.
4. Demonstrated experience in administrating QA metrics, such as defect profiles and performance to entry/exit criteria.
5. Well developed project management skills including project planning, estimation and release management.
6. Good Understanding of VPN, Routing & Firewall products.
7. Good knowledge of TCP/IP and related protocols (HTTP, SNMP, FTP, etc).
8. Experience in performance testing and use of tools like Avalanche, Smartbits etc.
9. Would prefer candidates who have few years of development experience and knowledge of #C# Programming.
10. Familiarity with software development life cycle process and basics of software version control.
