Software Development Manager – Merchant Technology Amazon - Hyderabad


Job Description

The Merchant Technologies (M@)division is one of the fastest growing businesses within Amazon. There are over1.6 million merchants, ranging from students selling their text books tonation-wide retail chains, selling on Amazon’s international marketplaces.

We are creating a new development team in Hyderabad, India that will focus onbuilding part of this platform. We are looking for a leader for the newHyderabad team who is passionate about global development and building highlyscalable and extensible platforms. The leader will need to have strong focus onengineering excellence and performance metrics. The leader will be obsessedwith developing high-performance teams through rigorous goal setting,disciplined attention to performance metrics, continuous process improvement,and mutual support and mentorship. He or she will also have very strongcommunication skills to bridge the gap between the Seattle and Hyderabad teams.
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Leading highly talented technology teams responsible for building and owningcomplex services from India.
Delivery of highly available andhighly reliable software. 
• Inculcate a culture of innovation and operational efficiency in the team. 
• Responsible for the direction of India team for Merchant Technologiesplatform. 
• Influence, collaborate and communicate effectively with various leaders inAmazon. 
• Hiring, growing and retaining a strong team keeping with the Amazon high bar.
 
Preferred Qualification:
 
The ideal candidate is a businessand tech-savvy, analytical manager with a verifiable track record of managingand delivering enterprise projects on time and within budget. 
• A record of hiring of strong technical and operations team members andleaders. 
• Candidates must demonstrate proactive technical leadership, strong verbal andwritten communication skills, and a proven ability to multi-task and managestress effectively in a fast-paced environment. 
• Candidate must have a strong customer focus and excellent expectationmanagement abilities. 
• A BS or MS degree in Computer Science is required with 7-12 years ofexperience managing distributed computing/server software engineering teams.
