The ideal candidate is a public policy leader, passionate about Facebook and it’s family of apps - Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram - who can combine a talent for seeing the potential of technology with the ability to use the company’s platforms to drive value for people across India. A deeply strategic thinker with a deep knowledge of India’s political economy and appreciation for the complexity of current discussions globally on the creation of new rules around the Internet. This role will work under the direction of the Managing Director, India and will partner closely with the global public policy leadership team that is dealing with several interesting and crucial public policy challenges of our times, including privacy, safety and security, freedom of expression, and the impact of the internet on economic growth..

Responsibilities Operate as a key member of the India Leadership Team and as a champion for the values and mission of Facebook Develop and retain a high performing policy team Lead on developing and ensuring consistent implementation of the principles and values of public policy engagement for Facebook's policy programs across India. Superior people manager with extensive experience leading diverse teams and as a diversity and inclusion champion Work closely with internal cross functional partners across multiple teams to ensure effective collaboration, resource allocation and the realisation of key strategic outcomes Work with functional, country and regional leads to build strategic plans for India, to understand, identify and anticipate the defining public policy issues linked to the technology sector in India Provide strategic support, guidance and high-level oversight to country, regional and functional teams. Working with policymakers and non-governmental organisations on technology policy issues Building coalitions to help advance and support programs that advance Facebook’s charter in India Representing Facebook in meetings with policymakers Communicating Facebook's positions on key policy issues in public presentations to a wide range of audiences both internally and externally Minimum Qualifications 20+ years of experience in public policy Experience in people management Preferred Qualifications Keen understanding of institutional processes in India Sound judgement, communication and persuasive skills as well as a creative outlook, perspective and ability to work with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment Experience in policy engagement or development for a multinational corporation or civil society institution A keen eye for connecting the unconnected, and extensive experience with relevant policy issues, including internet governance, data privacy, human rights/free expression, taxation, net neutrality, child online protection, etc Passionate about Facebook and its mission to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together A cross-functional team player with the ability to drive and manage multiple projects and campaigns simultaneously Deep interest in technology and related policy programs Interest and willingness to travel Considerable experience in public policy, MBA or law degree preferred
